There is also a variety of base where you can make a chain of people, with one end of the chain attached to "base", and anyone who latches onto this chain of people are technically on base. I think they called it electric base. It's like a wall of meat. It was also really, really stupid.

Sometimes I play tag with a bunch of chemists on my block. The game takes on a completely different strategy when base is just a big pile of lye or potassium or something.
